NOD32 Enterprise Edition
A package which includes NOD32 antivirus system and
NOD32 Remote
Administrator for deploying and managing NOD32 in both small and large
enterprises.
Here are the basic steps to take when setting
up Enterprise Edition of NOD32:
- Using your Username and
Password, download and install NOD32 Administration version (the
Mirror version) onto your server (http://u4.eset.com/download/win/v2ad/ndntenad.exe)
- Update it first and then:
- Check 'Create update
mirror'
- Check 'Enable access to
files via the HTTP protocol'
- Check 'Require
permission to perform program component upgrade'
- Check the 'Available
versions' you require for your network. ie: Win9x machines and/or
WinNT machines.
- Create a path to a
Mirror somewhere on your server. C:\Mirror is fine, but you
can choose to create this wherever you wish .
- Save the nod32.lic
key that was attached to your email, to the desktop for the time being.
- Using your Username and
Password, download and install NOD32 Remote Administrator Server
(RAS) onto your server (http://u4.eset.com/download/ra/rasrvnten.exe)
which includes standard NOD32 installers for Win95/98/ME &
WinNT/2000/XP, but which might not be the very latest versions.
- During the installation you
will be asked to locate the nod32.lic key.
- Using your Username and
Password, download and install NOD32 Remote Administrator Console
(RAC) onto your server and/or any machine that you want to
administrate your clients from. ie: your workstation, your laptop, etc.
- Optional - If you
wish to ensure that your clients receive the very latest version of
NOD32 as soon as you install, you should download the appropriate
versions:
- Using your Username and
Password, download only NOD32 for Windows NT/2000/2003/XP
- standard onto your server (http://u4.eset.com/download/win/v2st/ndntenst.exe)
assuming you have machines running this OS in your network.
- Using your Username and
Password, download only NOD32 for Windows 95/98/ME -
standard onto your server (http://u4.eset.com/download/win/v2st/nd98enst.exe)
assuming you also have machines running this OS in your network. If
not, there's no need to download this version.
- Save these 2 installers
into the RA folder.
- Note: even if you use
the 'built-in' NOD32 installers inside RAS, your clients will
receive a Program Component Upgrade fairly soon after the remote
installations have completed. You can choose when to allow your
clients to receive the upgrade (see Mirror setup window).
The initial downloading of
components is complete now.

Points to watch out for:
- In some network
configurations, 'Simple file sharing' may need to be turned off on your
WinXP clients.
- Make sure any firewalls on
the clients does not also interfere with connections during
installation.
- As a rule of thumb, IMON
should not be enabled on any server.
- Make sure, as you are the
administrator of your network, you have set your administrator's logon
name and password to access all your clients. If the password is left
blank, connection to your clients will not work.
Run RAC:
- Go to Tools ---> Console
options ---> Connections ---> Add/Remove, and enter the name or IP
address of your server ---> click OK.
- From the 'Select
Connection' box, choose the server name you've just added.
- Press 'Connect'.
- You will be asked for a
password -- it is blank by default, but can be changed later in the
server options menu.
- In the 'Current state of
connection' window, you should see the name of the server. If true,
press OK.
- You may add connection to
SMTP server also if you have a mail server address and you wish to
install on some clients via email: Tools ---> Server Options --->
Configuration tab.
Create an
installation package:
- From RAC, click on 'Remote
Install' tab.
- 'Packages'.
- In the 2nd text box from
the top, choose 'Default'
- Now press 'Save as...' and
call the package a name of your choice.
- Click 'Edit' to enter
details for your workstations to update from and change any
settings/options/scheduled tasks, etc. in NOD32 that you wish your
clients to adopt.
- IMPORTANT: Under the
General\Settings\Remote Administration section, check that 'Connect to
RAS: Yes' is set and also that the correct name or IP address of your
server is entered (only the name or IP address should be entered).
- IMPORTANT: Under the
Update\Profile\Settings section, add the server's address for where the
clients will be updating from. By default it will say 'AUTOSELECT'. Edit
this to:
http://yourservername:8081
- When finished choose to
save the configuration.
- You'll now return to the
Packages window. You may like to check the 'Command Line options'
(bottom right hand corner link) to amend the default: /SILENTMODE /INSTMFC
(For example: you might want to add /REBOOT to make your clients
automatically reboot when the installation is complete).
- Click the 'Save' button.
Push the
installation:
- Still on the 'Remote
Install' tab in RAC, click on the 'Install' button.
- In the new window, Package
text box, select your new package.
- In the left hand panel,
locate your clients and drag them over to the right hand panel.
- Select maybe one client to
start with and click the 'Install' button at the foot of the panel.
- If successful, choose all
other clients and install.
- Go to the 'Clients' tab in
RAC, and within 5 minutes (default), you'll see your clients appear in
the list.
